What it Takes to be Coached
As a coach, it’s not my job to believe in your limitations. I will not let you argue in favor of them. But what the hell does that mean? Well, it means you don’t get to keep running down all of your reasons why you don’t have what you want in your life right now. They’re not going to get you anywhere (they haven’t so far, have they?). You’re going to do things very differently now.
I only work with clients who are really motivated. No, I mean as if their life depends upon it motivated. That’s one of the reasons why I have such a high success rate! I thoroughly screen who I will work with. You will learn to self motivate.
I guarantee outcomes. We define a predetermined outcome and I promise you, you will leave me in a few short hours of work together having reached 70% to 80% of that goal. You’ll go off for several weeks applying the tools you’ve learned and we will meet one last time, at which point most of my clients separate between 90% and 92% resolved in the goals that we’ve defined. You will have clearly defined goals.
Your time commitment will not be weeks, months, or even years. It will be a handful of hours typically. Time is the most valuable commodity we have. I understand and respect this. You will learn to value this more than any other thing in the world.
So how do you start? Well, there are forms to fill out (Working Agreement and History/Goal Setting) and then before our very first appointment these movies have to be viewed in this order:
- You Can Heal Your Life – Louise Hay
- The Shift – Wayne Dyer
- What the Bleep Do We Know!? – Betsy Chasse
You have to start a Gratitude Journal and keep it going nightly.
While we’re working together, there will be action items, homework assignments and other tasks for you to complete. There are times when it may not feel easy. Hell, there will be times when it might actually feel challenging. But I promise you, when all is said and done, the satisfaction you will have from achieving your goals – and the momentum you will have attained from learning and applying a whole new set of tools – will carry you for the rest of your life.
